Celebrating 30 Years
It’s hard to believe but, this year, we are celebrating 30 years of trading! In that time, a lot has changed and no more so than in the past year. We have recently moved into our brand new offices and have 5 new team members, ensuring the future of the Company.
Waller Building Services opened its doors back in 1993 and we have undergone numerous incarnations in that time. But the real catalyst for where we are today was back in 2010 when we made the decision to grow. A part of this was to introduce a glazing division. We then needed a clear strategy and that is something the management team has continually worked on and continues to do so. Up to this point, we were sort of growing organically but the plan we put in place not only helped us grow but also to focus and improve whilst maintaining our core values and beliefs.
These are our Vision & Values which the entire management team has signed up to. These are the core of what makes us different and sets us apart from everyone else. Our vision is ‘To be the best building & glazing company we can through our core value of building on trust… together’. And the ‘together’ is the important bit! But to be the best we actively have to change and evolve and we call that going from ‘Good to Great!’ and that is the journey we are now all on.
UKAS Accreditation
Three years ago we were awarded UKAS accreditation for both ISO 9001 Quality & ISO 14001 Environmental which took a lot of work and something that we are continually audited on. We were recently assessed again and I am pleased to say that we have been fully accredited for another 3 years. To put that into context, there are half a million companies in the UK with over 5 employees and only 27,000 are ISO 9001 certified putting us in the top 5% in the country.
The core to both of these standards is continual improvement and that dove tails perfectly with our ‘Good to Great’ journey. But that can only happen if you look at things and do them differently. If we genuinely want to improve then we have to actively focus on what we need to change to be better.
Going From Good Great
The management team has also re-embarked on its development journey – going from ‘Good to Great’. We’ve been looking at strategic planning along with producing an in depth marketing plan. We are basically looking at what can be done to further improve things and ensure the long term stability and growth of the Company.
Sales & Marketing is a critical part of any business to drive growth. We have to ensure that awareness is continually increased and relationships with existing clients is maintained. And our targeted plan is working! Turnover has increased 10-15% year on year and, from working in only a handful of schools 10 years ago, we have now worked in over 240! (112 in the last year alone).
Building on trust..together
I am very proud of what we have achieved over the past 30 years and grateful to everyone who has helped us get to where we are today. But I am also excited to see what tomorrow will bring and I have every confidence in the team here at Waller World to continually strive to meet our vision ‘To be the best building & glazing company we can through our core value of building on trust… together
