New Car Park and Play Area

For this project we converted the original school car park into a new car park and play area. The school previously had the use of a neighbouring school’s grounds but a change of use meant that the school would not be able to use the facility in the future.

Bronte school employed an architecture, landscape designer to come up with a proposal to provide a new play area and reconfigure the current car parking provision. We were also appointed at an early stage of the discussions to assist with the final design. The school leadership team wanted a play area that also incorporated planting, areas for students to meet as well as somewhere for recreation and P.E. activities.

High Quality Materials

High quality materials were used throughout the project, from handmade bricks to high quality 80mm thick paving stones. A sports approved astroturf, incorporated court markings, was also installed. In addition, bespoke oak benches were manufacturered and installed. To complete the works, floodlights, failure lighting and additional improvements to the surrounding area complimented the completed look.

Challenges

After removing the original tarmac, we uncovered foundations from a previous building. We remove the old foundations allowing us to continue with the project.

In addition, the original car park suffered from flooding during bad weather. By working closely with the school, various designs and elements were changed to improve the final result.

Due to the amount of work required and the size of the project, a large part of the works were carried out during the school term. This did not prove to be a problem as all of our personnel are DBS checked. This meant that the project was completed on time and without any problems.
