Working During Covid-19 Pandemic

Working During Covid-19 Pandemic

The majority of the team are back to work here at Wallers. We are all being very careful and taking maximum precautions to help minimise the risk to clients and other members of the team. Social distancing is being enforced wherever it is practically possible to ensure we can carry on working during Covid-19 pandemic.

Safety Measures in Place

Our offices are a very different place to work in comparison to before the outbreak. Many safety measures have been implemented. Face masks have been supplied to all Waller employees to keep themselves and others safe. In the offices, large protective screens are on every desk to help protect each other and keep everyone apart. There is a hand sanitiser station at the entrance to the building. In addition to this, every desk has a large bottle of hand sanitiser which we are encouraged to use regularly.

The majority of doors and windows are being left open throughout the day to help ventilate the office and minimise any risk.

Away From the Office

As well as hand sanitiser in the office, each member of staff have a bottle for their company vehicles. Travelling to site with others in the same vehicle is being kept to an absolute minimum. This can only take place in the larger vehicles. There must be an empty seat inbetween each person which allows a safe distance. Additionally, the windows must be left open to ensure optimum ventilation. In the majority of cases staff travel to site in their own separate vehicles.

On Site

Obviously, we have to attend sites for progress visits and to attend meetings. Visits are being kept to a minimum to help reduce the chances of spreading or catching the virus. Workers are being provided with face masks and hand sanitiser for them to use at their own will. Signs are being put up to help remind everyone about the rules and guidelines that have to be followed on and off site.

Working Safely in Schools

Arriving at schools is a very strange experience at the moment. Temperatures are being taken, masks are being handed out and hand sanitiser stations are dotted around everywhere. As visitors, we have to follow the schools rules and procedures to ensure we keep the staff and students safe. Any deliveries of materials have to be dropped off and unloaded at times when children are not in the area. We have to ensure that a clear path to the working area is available.

Schools are Very Different Places at the Moment

One of the things that has made an impact on me the most is how differently schools are having to functioning at the moment. Clear, two meter markings have been applied to corridor floors and across playgrounds to help the students maintain social distancing. Desks are laid out in an exam style to make sure that there is enough space between students. Staggered lunch and break times have been put in place to reduce large groups of childrenbeing near each other. One way systems have also been put in place around schools and everyone needs to follow and abide these measures.

What I do admire is how seriously the majority of people are taking this and lengths they are prepared change their daily routine in order to minimise risk to others.

Hopefully, the world will be back to normal soon, but until then stay safe and follow government guidelines
