The Waller Grand National Sweepstake
Bringing a Bit of Racing Day Fun to the Office we all entered the Waller Grand National Sweepstake this year.
Every April, the nation collectively holds its breath as the Grand National thunders into action — a chaotic, unpredictable, utterly iconic horse race that turns even the least sporty among us into passionate armchair jockeys.
This year, we joined the excitement with our very own company sweepstake, giving everyone a chance to get involved, cheer on their horses, and maybe even walk away with a little prize pot.
To keep things simple (and fair), we ran a straightforward setup:
• £1 entry
• 2 horses per person
• Total cost: £2
Once the final line up was confirmed, all runners were added to the draw. Names went in, horses come out — no skill required, just pure luck and a bit of office bragging rights.
The total pot was split across the top 3 finishers, keeping the tension alive right to the end.
The Winners
• 1st Place – I am Maximus – prize pot went to Jo Andrews
• 2nd Place – Iroko – prize pot went to Andy Waller
• 3rd Place – Jordan’s – prize pot went to Lesley Waller
Taking part in the Grand National sweepstake was a simple way to bring a little extra energy into the workplace. It encouraged connection, added a sense of occasion, and gave everyone something to look forward to — whether they’re racing enthusiasts or complete newcomers.
