Painful Start

I joined the lovely bunch at Wallers in January. This was shortly after breaking my finger, the result of taking a fall in London just before Christmas. Not great starting a job in finance with just one hand to type and input!

However, despite my situation, it was still all good. I soon discovered that it’s a lovely place to work, the people are great and couldn’t do enough to help. I’m really enjoying it.

Although my fingers did improve in time, my wrist was still aching. After a second x-ray in March, I discovered that I had scapholunate dissociation. Unfortunately, this does not heal by itself. In the majority of cases, surgery is required to repair the ligament which holds the two wrist bones together. Following surgery, a cast was needed for a number of weeks to allow the repaired tissues to heal.

So here I am in my red, sparkly, cast (I chose this, do love a sparkle). My operation was at the end of May and six weeks later the cast is due to finally come off! Then it’s onto hand therapy.

Everyone at work is has got used to me not needing anything when I put my hand up to alleviate the pain and swelling! A big thanks to my colleagues making me feel so welcome and putting up with my slow typing and lack of washing up tea cups.

I’m sure it will be my turn for the next few weeks.
