Wigmore Library Refurbishment
This Wigmore Library refurbishment project saw us tasked with revitalising a tired and dated building. Part of the internal works consisted of alterations to form a new meeting room and toilets for members of the public. This would help host future multi-functional events. The installation of a new heating system and LED lights will reduce the building’s carbon footprint. This will also help lower future energy costs. Throughout the library re-decorating added a freshness. New vinyl flooring and carpet tiles were laid within the main areas of the facility. The addition of both static and mobile shelving completed the look internally. Additionally, a new lighter reception area with desk and upgraded I.T. facilities now greets members of the public as they enter.
New Aluminium Windows and Entrance
To create more space, the entrance was relocated to the centre of the building. New grey automated double doors were installed and, in addition, new commercial aluminium double glazed windows replaced the original single glazed windows. This will improve the library’s energy efficiency which will mean lower future energy bills and a warmer environment in the colder months. In place of the original entrance, full length aluminium windows were installed providing a light and friendly area next to public facilities. To complete the look, each glass panel had colour filming applied which provides a funky new look. The library now has the feel of a modern, light and spacious building where social groups can meet and research and educational study can take place.
Improved Staff Facilities
Finally, a specification of this project was to improve staff welfare which included complete refurbishment of the kitchenette and toilets.
