School Shower and Changing Room Reconfiguration

The Charles Dickens School approached us regarding a potential school shower and changing room reconfiguration that they were considering. Working with the site manager, he gave us an idea of what the school wanted to achieve. Together, we came up with a specification and produced a quotation for the works. We were delighted when the school gave us the go ahead to carry out the works during the school summer holidays.

The Project

The school wanted to achieve an overall facility for showering, changing and comfort requirements. The original boys and girls shower blocks and changing areas needed upgrading to a new and more modern specification. Both areas were completely refurbished throughout. The shower blocks are now more spacious and include the installation of new smart showers. Individual shower cubicles were created with the use of Durapanel which was also used for cladding the walls. In addition the two changing areas were also completely refurbished and new changing furniture was added.

Inclusive Shower and Changing Areas

To cater for all, new inclusive shower and changing areas were also created. The two new facilities were achieved buy reconfiguring existing W.C.s and also include new lobbies which provide open, spacious areas. In addition to the works we also refurbished four W.C.s. We also added extra storage cupboards and a laundry facility to the area. The school now has a complete bespoke facility to cater for all students.

The majority of the project was completed during the school summer holidays. The eight weeks required for the project meant that works would overlap into school term time. By working closely with the school staff, it was agreed that we would start two weeks before the school summer holidays which meant that we carry out a large amount of the project to prepare for the holidays.
