Folkestone Primary School Toilet Refurb

All Saints Primary School in Folkestone approached us to refurbish two of its pupil washrooms, with the aim of creating cleaner, more modern and practical facilities that improved the needs of pupils.

Creating a brighter, more functional washroom environment

The project provided an opportunity to make better use of the existing space, improve the overall layout and create a more open, welcoming environment that would be easier to supervise and maintain.

Maximising Space and Improving the Layout

A key element of the refurbishment was the reconfiguration of the existing washroom layouts. By carefully reviewing the available space and redesigning the arrangement of the facilities, we were able to make more effective use of the footprint while improving the functionality and flow of the rooms.

The school also wanted to open up the entrances to the toilet blocks. This formed an important part of the design, helping to create a more open and accessible entrance area while discouraging pupils from congregating in the washrooms.

Modern, Durable and Hygienic Washroom Facilities

We removed the existing toilet cubicles, urinals and washbasins before installing new facilities throughout both washrooms.

The refurbishment included:

  • New toilet cubicles to provide modern, practical facilities for pupils.
  • Replacement toilets and urinals to update the existing sanitaryware.
  • Communal trough sinks to increase washing capacity and make more efficient use of the available space.
  • New lighting to create a brighter, more welcoming environment.
  • New non-slip flooring to support safer use of the washrooms and provide a durable finish suited to a busy school environment.

Trough sinks were an important feature of the new design. Increasingly popular in educational settings, they offer several practical benefits, particularly in areas used by large numbers of pupils throughout the school day.

These include:

  • Higher capacity and reduced queuing: Multiple pupils can wash their hands simultaneously, helping to ease congestion during busy periods.
  • Efficient use of space: A continuous basin can accommodate several washing positions within a compact footprint.
  • Support for hand hygiene: Convenient communal washing facilities help schools manage handwashing routines before meals, after playtime and throughout the school day.
  • Simplified cleaning and maintenance: A well-designed trough sink can provide an easy-to-clean surface and a practical solution for high-use school washrooms.

Combined with the new sanitaryware, lighting and flooring, these improvements have helped create facilities designed around the demands of a busy primary school environment.

A Successful Outcome for All Saints Primary School

The completed refurbishment has modernised both washrooms, improved the use of the available space and delivered a more functional environment for pupils and staff.

We were delighted with the school’s positive response to the completed works. Planning a school washroom refurbishment? Contact our team to discuss your project.
