Primary School Kitchen Conversion

We carried out this primary school kitchen conversion project for Days Lane Primary School in Sidcup, transforming a standard classroom into a fully functioning kitchen/classroom.

The Project

The school sought to create a versatile space where pupils and members of the local community could engage in educational cooking sessions. The brief required a complete refurbishment to turn the existing classroom into a dedicated, modern teaching kitchen.

Our Approach

We began the project by completely stripping out the existing classroom, creating a blank canvas for the new installation. The transformation included:

  • Installation of a bespoke kitchen, featuring cupboards, worktops, and integrated kitchen appliances such as an oven, dishwasher, and washing machine

  • Laying of new, durable flooring suitable for a kitchen environment

  • Installation of a new suspended ceiling to enhance lighting and acoustic performance

  • Complete redecoration to create a bright and inviting space

  • Upgraded electrics and modern lighting to provide a well-lit and energy-efficient environment

The Result

The result is a clean, functional, and engaging kitchen/classroom that supports the school’s ambition to promote healthy eating, life skills, and community involvement through cooking.

The new facility has been well received by both staff and students, and is already being used as a valuable resource for curriculum-based and extracurricular activities.
