Hertfordshire Academy Aluminium Window Installation

We were asked to carry out this Hertfordshire academy aluminium window installation in order to replace the old Crittal windows. The original single glazed windows were past their best and allowed too much heat loss during the winter, resulting in high heating costs. The project started with the removal of the Crittal windows. Each section was replaced with aluminium double glazed windows and coloured infill panels. Aluminium, double doors containing double glazed safety glass were also installed. Additionally, we installed solar controlled glass into all of the south facing windows which will make life much more pleasant for pupils and teaching staff during the summer months. The solar controlled glass will ensure that the temperature is cooler during hot sunny days. Finally, we fitted blue metallic infill panels to match the school colours. To ensure that construction legislation was met, safety glass was installed in all areas.

In areas of the school, radiators were attached to the windows meaning that they had to be removed and re-attached when the new windows were installed.

The new windows look fantastic and the school can look forward to lower heating costs due to the window’s improved thermal efficiency. The school are very happy with the results and are hoping that we can replace the remaining Crittal windows in the future, depending on budgets.
