The Project

We were appointed to refurbish two small toilet blocks at Chattenden Primary School in Kent, serving the school’s Reception (Year R) pupils.

The aim was to transform the existing facilities into a cleaner, more attractive and practical environment, making the best possible use of the available space while meeting the needs of younger children.

The Brief

The project required the installation of two toilet cubicles within each block, alongside a shared trough-style washbasin. This provided a neater, more streamlined alternative to individual sinks, maximising the available space and creating a more cohesive finish. In addition, the walls were plastered and decorated with new flooring and suspended ceilings were installed.

Urinals were deliberately omitted from the design to support easier cleaning and maintenance, helping the school maintain a cleaner and more hygienic environment for its pupils.

The Result

The refurbishment has transformed the two toilet blocks, replacing the tired existing facilities with a fresh, modern and much more presentable environment.

The combination of practical cubicle layouts and space-efficient trough washbasins has improved the overall appearance and functionality of the facilities, while the considered design supports straightforward cleaning and ongoing maintenance.

The completed project demonstrates how even relatively small-scale refurbishments can make a significant difference to the school environment, creating toilet facilities that are better suited to the needs of pupils and the day-to-day demands of a busy primary school.
