Environmental Responsibility
Environmental Management System
At Waller Associates, we are committed to operating in an environmentally responsible and sustainable way.
The construction industry has a significant impact on the environment. As builders and glazing specialists, we recognise our responsibility to reduce that impact and support more sustainable construction practices. We believe that building and glazing should do more than simply stand the test of time — it should respect the environment it occupies and comply fully with environmental regulations.
Our environmental strategy focuses on responsible site management, waste reduction, sustainable operations, and continuous improvement across all areas of the business
Environmental Management System
BS EN ISO 14001 Certified
Waller Services holds BS EN ISO 14001 certification, the internationally recognised standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
This certification demonstrates our commitment to managing our environmental responsibilities in a systematic and measurable way. ISO 14001 provides a framework that helps organisations reduce environmental impact, meet legal obligations, and continually improve sustainability performance.
Through our Environmental Management System, we regularly monitor and review our processes to ensure we:
- Reduce environmental impact wherever possible
- Comply with all relevant environmental legislation
- Improve operational efficiency
- Work towards long-term sustainability goals
Our ISO certification reflects our dedication to maintaining high environmental standards across all projects and business operations.
Responsible Waste Management
Construction sites are often associated with high levels of waste. At Waller Services, we take proactive steps to reduce waste and manage materials responsibly.
Our waste management approach includes:
- Strict on-site waste sorting procedures
- Recycling materials wherever possible
- Removing all construction waste from site
- Ensuring waste is disposed of responsibly through licensed waste carriers
- Working with recycling partners to minimise landfill use
By implementing responsible waste management systems, we aim to significantly reduce the environmental impact of our projects.
We have a designated recycling area at our yard where we segregate all forms of waste so it is not sent to land fill (we have a Company target of less than 2% of waste generated being sent to landfill and we have achieved this year-on-year for the past 5 years)
Sustainable Operations
Environmental responsibility extends beyond our construction sites and into our everyday business operations.
Electric Vehicle Fleet
Where financially viable, we are actively working to expand our fleet with electric vehicles. While the cost of new technology can present challenges, we have already taken steps to support the transition.
- One electric company vehicle currently in use
- Three electric vehicle charging points installed
- Infrastructure in place for future electric fleet expansion
These steps support our long-term goal of reducing transport-related emissions.
Office Environmental Practices
As a responsible company, we also focus on reducing environmental impact within our offices.
Our internal sustainability practices include:
- Recycling all non-sensitive paper
- Battery recycling programmes
- Responsible disposal of food scraps and general waste
- Promoting environmentally responsible behaviour among staff
Small everyday actions contribute to meaningful environmental improvements across the organisation.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Environmental responsibility is an ongoing process. At Waller Services, we are committed to continually improving our environmental performance and supporting sustainable construction practices.
By combining responsible building methods, effective waste management, and environmentally conscious workplace policies, we aim to minimise our impact and contribute positively to the environment.
