Maidstone Office Block Window Replacement
We were awarded this Maidstone office block window replacement project following a recommendation from an architect who has worked with us on many occasions.
The Project
This office block, constructed in the 1960s, still featured its original single-glazed windows. These were well past their best and required upgrading to modern, energy-efficient, double-glazed aluminium windows. Aluminium was selected for its durability, low maintenance, and ability to deliver a sleek, commercial finish that enhances the building’s overall appearance.
Front Elevation
The front elevation windows were carefully designed to replicate the appearance of the original units, ensuring the building retained its distinctive character. As a well-known local landmark, it was important to preserve its architectural charm while providing a contemporary update that improves both performance and aesthetics.
Rear Elevation
At the rear elevation, we installed a simpler aluminium window system to help maintain cost efficiency without compromising quality. The original design incorporated panels beneath the windows, which we replaced with new metallic panels that perfectly complement the grey aluminium frames, creating a cohesive and modern look.
Scaffolding and Access
As the building spans multiple floors, full scaffolding was erected to ensure safe and efficient access for our installation team. This allowed us to carry out the works with minimal disruption to the occupants and surrounding area.
The Benefits of New Double-Glazed Windows
Energy Efficiency
Single-glazed windows allow heat to escape easily, leading to higher energy consumption and significantly increased heating costs. Upgrading to double glazing improves thermal insulation and reduces ongoing energy bills.
Improved Security
Modern aluminium window systems feature enhanced locking mechanisms, providing far greater protection against unauthorised entry.
Enhanced Safety
Unlike older single-glazed glass, which can break dangerously, modern glazing is designed to fracture safely, reducing the risk of injury in the event of damage.
Summary
This project successfully combined heritage preservation with modern performance, revitalising a 1960s office block in the heart of Maidstone. The result is a more energy-efficient, secure, and visually appealing building that meets contemporary standards while respecting its original design.
