Fire Door 60 - Waller Glazing Services -Kent

Fire Doors – Pyroguard Glass Benefits

Fire Doors – Pyroguard glass benefits are

  • 7mm thickness for 30 minute applications
  • UV stability for internal and external applications
  • The only processable UV stable 7mm thick glass with a 2B2 impact rating
  • Easy to cut, no taping needed
  • Stock item, quick delivery

Glazed fire doors offer a number of benefits in everyday working life as well as in case of an emergency. Furthermore Pyroguard fire safety glass allows for the natural flow of light through and around a building, therfore creating a pleasant atmosphere for those working inside. Being able to see through doors allows occupants to move safely around a building, and in addition provides the security benefit of being able to see who is coming and going in a workplace. Additionally in the event of a fire, fire glazed doors enable occupants to see if an escape route is clear, rather than risking opening a door leading to a fire, and therefore will show if anyone is trapped or unconscious behind a door.

The Pyroguard EW range fire resistant glass is extremely versatile as it can be cut to your required size. As a result the glass protects against flames, smoke and heat, automatically meeting the requirements of the E rated fire glass range. The EW range has the advantage of additional heat control and, therefore, greater fire protection.

In particular the Pyroguard range is designed to meet regulatory requirements internationally, and all Pyroguard glass products are tested to European and national standards.

Fire Doors

Fire doors are a type of door that are used to contain a fire in a particular part of your building, they help to protect people in any commercial property from any smoke or fire, such as, Schools, Care homes, Offices, Hotels and Restaurants.

Different fire doors have different hourly ratings depending on what material they are made with. Consequently they can be timber or steel which means the length of time the fire door can stand up to a fire.

Fire doors can often be plain or paneled, they can also be glazed. Fire resistant glass is needed if this is the case.

Waller Glazing Services stocks two types of clear fire glass, the first being  7.2mm Pyroguard which holds a fire rating of 30 minutes. The second is 7mm Pyroguard this offers a 60 minute fire rating. We are the sole stockists of this glass in the South East.

Waller Associates

In 1993 Steve Waller started Waller Building Services after training as a quantity surveyor. Over the next few years the company grew and it was in July, 2000, when the decision was made for Waller Building Services to become a Limited company.  Therefore Waller Associates Limited was set up and Waller Building Services became a trading division within that company. In 2010, an opportunity arose that dove tailed well with the existing company structure.  A long established local Glazing company went into administration which produced the need for a commercial and domestic glazing supplier in the area.  Their commercial glazing manger, Paul Hayward, liked the way we operated as a company and therefore a new division was formed.

Waller Building & Glazing Apprenticeships

Waller Associates Ltd has successfully trained a number of apprentices in surveying, office skills, specialist construction trades and glazing roles. Subsequently they have become valuable members of our team. These apprenticeships have proved highly successful and we look forward to continuing this in the future.

Our latest apprentice, was recommended to us by an employee after he expressed an interest in joining our glazing team. Apprentices combine practical learning on the job together with a work based qualification studying at college or a training organisation.  We currently use the services of a training organisation to provide core Maths and English. Additionally, work based observations provide a recognised FENSA approved NVQ qualification. Prior to the availability of this we managed our glazing apprenticeship training in-house approved by the CITB.

Waller Building & Glazing apprenticeships include driving lessons which benefit both the individual and the company.

Below is some information that might come in handy when searching for fire glass.

Everyone asks but what is the difference between Integrity and insulation.

Integrity

Integrity is the ability of the glass to remain in the frame when subjected flame for the period of time for the integrity specified.

Insulation

Insulation is an additional function to Integrity.  All fire resistant glass have integrity; not all have insulation.  Insulating glasses will limit the rise in temperature on the non-fire side to an average of no more than 140 degrees Centigrade and in any one position by no more than 180 degrees Centigrade
