Health & Safety
Due to a breach of health & safety regulations, a building company were fined £40,000 with £3,000 costs under the Health and Safety at Work Act etc 1974 and Regulation 22(1)a of the CDM Regs 2007. Building materials fell through the site hoarding onto the pavement and highway.
Working At Height
Furthermore a roofing company was fined £18,000 with £4,089 costs after a worker fell through a roof light 3 metres to the ground and suffered injuries to his head, wrist and hip. Another company was fined £10,000 with £1,355 costs after a worker slipped and fell 7 metres through a roof sheet when replacing roof lights. In this case no risk assessment had taken place or precautions taken to prevent falls from the edge of the roof or various fragile elements.
Hand-Arm Vibration
2 construction firms have been fined £12,000 with £8,246 costs. The other £280,000 with costs of £8,246 under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 for failing to adequately manage risk where workers were regularly exposed to hand arm vibration through the use of range of vibratory tools.

In 1993 Steve Waller started Waller Building Services after training as a quantity surveyor. Over the next few years the company grew and it was in July, 2000, when the decision was made for Waller Building Services to become a Limited company. Therefore Waller Associates Limited was set up and Waller Building Services became a trading division within that company. In 2010, an opportunity arose that dove tailed well with the existing company structure. A long established local Glazing company went into administration which produced the need for a commercial and domestic glazing supplier in the area. Their commercial glazing manger, Paul Hayward, liked the way we operated as a company and therefore a new division was formed.
